Where it began? Coming from being a dancer if you were to ask me who was the founding fathers of dance I would say maybe J Lo or Bob Fosse. Despite the people being quinitcential artist in dance they are not our founding fathers of this art. So, here it begins my research in the art of dance. The first official form of dance started in the 15th century in Italy. Ballet was performed in places, specially for court dances for higher level people in the town. Out of all of the form of dance there is was classical ballet. Classical ballet is the most known and the founding base for all forms of dance. For ballet it was not just women that took part, men also. In fact, Catherine De Medici was a supporter for the arts and had a love for ballet. Her passion eventually lead to the spread of classical ballet to France. King Louis XIV began supporting classical ballet and France now too would join the revolution of ballet. His excitement toward this art established schools for dancers. The Academic Royale de Danse and the Academic Royale de Musique would be just a few of the first ballet companies. Ballet went finally public in the late 1600s but before this ballet could not be seen in religious rites or sacraments. Women would experience disadvantages compared to men to the point where they could not be allowed on a public stage. It was not only until Mile De Lafontaine, would be the first woman to step on a public stage and change it for dancers centuries later.
